COUNTDOWN: 18 SCHOOL DAYS

Hmm... It was hot again today. Probably around 90 degrees, which is hot around here. Especially when they don't turn on the air-conditioning at school... which brings me to the topic of today's rant: the SMT Showcase! This was a huge waste of time. Basically, the idea is that everyone in the program does a presentation, and everyone listens to a presentation from each grade level. The "presentation" took a whole 3 minutes, and it took less than that long to listen to other people's. Only problem: they got mad last year when everyone left after finishing this. So, they made people stay until after the awards thing at the end. Which wasn't too bad, except that the 600 wing was starting to heat up like a sauna, humidity and everything. I got an award for "hard worker". Hmmm... They seem to be trying all the wrong things to keep people in SMT. So far, all they've done is this Showcase. And they're making Junior research a full year, meaning I can't take it. So, instead of keeping people in, they are actually driving people away. Such as myself, if that whole independent-research thing doesn't work.
