School, part 12
So, since I don't have much else I really feel like sharing with everyone, I'll just write about my classes this year.
0 Period: Jazz Band (Robertson)
I'd be able to tell you more about this class if I were completely awake at 6:30, but I'm not a morning person yet. We've already started to play music, so I guess thats better than most years.
1st Period: AP Art History (Winters)
This is going to be an interesting class. It has the largest girl/guy ratio (no less than 3:1, probably closer to 4:1. The textbook is at least 4 inches deep and weighs a nice 14 pounds, but at least we only have to skim it.
2nd Period: AP Physics (Ramsey)
This class shouldn't be too bad, provided everyone keeps up on the class material and doesn't get off track too far. We've had a few people drop already, and we haven't even done any real work yet. Ramsey is a really good teacher and she knows what she's talking about, but we'll see if I decide to take this AP test or not.
3rd Period: AP English (Grey-Hattan)
Mrs. GH seems a bit like Mrs. VA, so this class shouldn't be terribly difficult to handle. She has already given us AP test prompts and scoring sheets, so she obviously will try to prepare us for the test. This class is going to be a LOT of work, if the 3 pages of short answers to 13 questions (assigned on the first day of school, due the next day) is any indication.
4th Period: AP Calculus (Brands)
First of all, I have never heard anything bad about Mr. Brands. Some people (typically female) don't appreciate his sense of humor, but I think its quite amusing, helps keep me focused after lunch. (Another good thing... upstairs = 1st lunch!) I don't think I will have too much trouble jumping into Calculus without Pre-Cal, but he seems like someone who would be able to explain anything I've missed quickly.
5th Period: AP Comparative Government (Powers)
So far, Powers seems to live up to his reputation. While he's not a bad teacher, he comes across as being far more of a jock than an academic, possibly why he got stuck teaching senior history. The class itself will be a bit of reading and may take some actual work to get a decent grade in, with people like Thomas and Pavan wrecking the curve. Fortunately, we have plenty of people who should occupy the bottom as well.
6th Period: Wind Ensemble (Robertson)
If you've read my blog for any significant length of time, you've probably seen what I do in band class. Basically, when we aren't actually playing, Jesse and I do whatever we feel like, since we're in Robertson's blind spot.
Well, thats what my year looks like... should be a lot of work.
In other news, we finished the drill for the show today and did our first full run-through. Now there's some kind of drunken party going on next door at the golf course. Yay.
